Chipping Administration
It may be appropriate to conduct a chipping operation on the job site.  Examples
of this might involve hand chipping of logging slash and debris for fire-safe
treatment and/ or aesthetic consideration or biomass thinning of small diameter
hardwoods or conifer trees.  By thinning the dense under-story of trees, it may
be possible to make the forest more fire-safe and to allow for the remaining
trees to grow faster and to be much more vigorous.  Some considerations in this
administration include:

The size and volume of material to be chipped.
The availability of biomass chip markets in proximity to the job.
The opportunity for accessing the job with chip vans.
The availability of cost-share grants to help pay for this work.
